A Brazilian pianist/bandleader. First came to the US in the early 60s,
with a band called Bossa Rio, capitalizing on the bossa-nova dance craze. Formed Brasil '65 (later '66), and created easy listening classix like "Mas Que Nada" and "The Look of Love", featuring lite beats, dual female vocalists, and tunes from top Brazilian writers and anglo sources, like The Beatles, whose tunes were often featured. Formula tweaks and name changes (to '77, '88, '99) were not as successful. Still going.
