In the game Civilization, the settler unit is used to establish new cities, as well as build roads, irrigation, mines, and other improvements. They have 0/1/1 attack, defense, and movement, and require no special technology to be built. They cost forty resources. These units are quite important to the game, as the irrigation and roads drastically improve the production of a nearby city. Also, by founding new cities one may expand one's empire, grow more and more powerful, and advance in technology more quickly. Each of your cities should build at least one of these almost immediately after being founded, so that improvements may be made.
