Shad Valley is a wonderful month-long pre-university science/technology/entrepreneurship experience held at one of many top universities (University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, etc) in Canada. Designed for high school juniors and seniors, it's a programme that brings together fifty academically talented individuals from around the world at one of usually ten campuses. Competition to gain entry into the programme is generally competitive with acceptance rates hovering around 1 in 3.
Highly rewarding, the programme forges lasting friendships. Alumni number nearly 6,000 worldwide and are a source of valuable connections. The experience does not end with the month-long campus experience in July, however; a select few exceptional individuals are awarded with a month-long internship in August with one of Shad International's partner companies. Partner companies include, among numerous others, Royal Bank of Canada, Noranda, and IMS Health Canada. A definitely worthwhile experience for those keen on entering the sciences, math, or commerce in university. Though, the interest can be quite rewarding for those interested in humanities as well.
