Other names: Coaltown Sagebrush, Artemisia cana

Silver sage is a herb. It grows to be about a foot tall. It is a perennial. (Meaning it will re-grow each year.) It has fuzzy silver leaves with a wonderful bouquet. It can be used for teas and cooking.

The silver sage originated in the dry hill of the Mediterranean, for this reason it’s important not to overwater it. It prefers direct sunlight and very well drained soil. You can plant seeds, but it is probably easier to divide the plant—or buy some at a nursery.

The sage bush will have small white or yellow flowers throughout most of the hotter months of the summer. Tie down in winter to avoid frosting.
