Under the Pinocchio Theory espoused by Bootsy Collins, if you fake the funk, your nose will grow long. Well, good old Sir Nose faked it, all right, and in revenge for his newly lengthened schnozz, he strives to put all under the Placebo Syndrome and to put a stop to the funk, once and for all.
Starchild later got Sir Nose with the vaunted Bop Gun, and Sir Nose got up on the down stroke.
