A popular skateboarding slogan, often found on bumper stickers and clothes. Part of the so-called skate "lifestyle".

Often used as a motto by skateboarders who think they are being persecuted as a result of their activites, especially in the press when they are trying to secure facilities such as a skate park, but more often used just as a general "coolness" phrase.

From 1978 until 1989 skateboarding, owning a skateboard, or selling a skateboard was illegal in Norway. The opinion at the time was that they were inherently dangerous and that this was for the public good. Skaters, disagreeing with this, instead moved out into the forests to build ramps and skate in secret. Skating and moonshine: the unknown connection revealed.
