Sleep Through Hurricanes is the fifth and last track on Whose Army?'s second demo release, and is soon to be featured on their first full album release, to be titled 'The Tree of Leaves and Fire'. This song was written by Clifton Anthony and Alyssa Moore, and is a rock duet sung by the pair. Moore is the prominent vocalist in this piece, and as such, Sleep is one of Whose Army?'s most iconic songs. It is one of the few recorded pieces to feature both songwriters vocalizing their own lyrics. It is best appreciated live, and while smoking a cigarette. Thankfully, the band is always willing to give you one if you're out, or if you don't usually smoke. It is reproduced here in full with permission from the band.

Sleep Through Hurricanes

Let’s give up our plans
Shake politician’s hands<
Maybe they can help us
Or maybe not
In my bed I digress from the demons I see
I recover under covers from the scars that cover me
Oh, you should see
Existence
It doesn’t make sense
To sleep in bed all day
And wake up still tired
Never seen better days than I have nights
Know what they say about men who choose darkness over light
Well, they were right
Tell them what you heard
You never can be sure
Cause words are just words
And nothing has meaning
(sleep through hurricanes)
Kingdom come has found me
Watching the news on my TV
And my head feels so heavy
And I can’t close my eyes
My own repose to dispose is to close my eyes
Awake I question, but the answers in my dream I will find
Nevermind
I'll sleep through hurricanes
I'll sleep through hurricanes
Don’t wake my tired brain
I’ll sleep through hurricanes
The shadow veil used to sail on the black ocean
Has steered me well into a vast oblivion
The day is done
Tell them what you heard
You never can be sure
Cause words are just words
And nothing has meaning
(sleep through hurricanes)
