Slippery Rock University, founded in 1889, (student body 7,000+) is located in Slippery Rock (pop. 3,008) which in turn is located in the beautiful rolling hills of western Pennsylvania, approximately 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. Home to the little town with the unusual name has found fame around the world, with football scores announced from stadiums in Texas to the lonely outposts of Vietnam.
