Lowell "Sly" Dunbar (drums) and Robert Shakespeare (bass), producers who began in 70s reggae, but have worked in a variety of contexts, such as Bob Dylan's post-Jesus Infidels and Grace Jones' series of post-disco LPs. Success allowed them to become early adopters of technology - e.g. the Simmons Drums and beyond-dub digital FX on Black Uhuru's Anthem (1985; helped by gear-geek Paul "Groucho" Smykle).
