The Snake Dip is another one of those Ragtime Animal Dances

The Snake Dip is a One Step variation executed in eight steps.

Start in promenade position facing line of direction with the follow on the right and the lead on the inside of the circle. In the first three steps, the lead crosses over to the outside of the circle. In the next three steps, the follow crosses over to the outside of the circle. The last two steps can either be to plain walks forward, or two traveling pivot steps.

The three steps of crossing over should be done like this. The first step is straight forward along line of direction, and is done with a little bit of a leap. Step two prepares for the turn, and is done with a dip or a bend in the supporting leg. Step three does the turn and maintains the dip. This gives the move an up and down undulation that is vaguely reminiscent of a snake.

The person not crossing over takes the three step straight forward along line of direction, and holds back a little on the third one to assist their partner's maneuver.
