Baseball manager who is the only man to manage World Series winning teams in both leagues. His playing career was unremarkable as it just lasted a mere one season. However, after he took the reigns of the Cincinnati Reds, he turned them into a perennial powerhouse with the apt nickname "Big Red Machine". The Reds defeated the Boston Red Sox in 1975, and much to my chagrin the New York Yankees the following year. Run-ins with the Reds ownership group led to his ouster a few years later, whereupon he joined the Detroit Tigers. In 1984, the Tigers won the World Series defeating the San Diego Padres. A very colorful figure, Sparky was cursed with prematurely gray hair.
