Speaking with the Angel is a collection of short stories told in first-person narrative. Edited by Nick Hornby (of High Fidelity and Fever Pitch fame), contributors to the collection are (according to the back cover at least) 12 of the most celebrated voices in fiction today. They are also mostly British, except for Melissa Bank and Dave Eggers who are American. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of book goes to TreeHouse, a school for autistic children where Hornby’s son is a student.

Stories in the Collection

One has to wonder how Colin Firth ended up writing a story for the book, but oddly enough he starred in the film adaptations of Hornby’s Fever Pitch and Fielding’s Bridget Jone’s Diary.
