Abbreviation for Special Forces Warfare, popularized by Richard Marcinko in the early 1990s. Specifically, his autobiography "Rogue Warrior", published in 1992, states that SpecWar is navyspeak for the kind of operations that SEALs are trained to perform, i.e. Green Ops, Black Ops, infiltration, recon and generally running around with high-tech toys killing people who are sometimes very much protected by e.g. the Rules of Engagement.
