Spider Beetle (Ptinus Tectus)

This beetle can be confused with spiders because of its long, hairy legs - however being an insect rather than an arachnid it has only six legs. As thi9s beetle is a scavenger the eggs are laid near a food source. The larvae have a body partly covered in long bristles and is C shaped. The larvae migrate to the seams and folds of sacks or into wall crevices to pupate. This beetle can be found in a wide variety of processed flours or meals.
