Steven Gould is a science fiction author known for gritty, concept-driven stories and tough-but-nice-guy heroes. He is best know for his Jumper series, which has been made into a movie and a computer game, but most of his books are worth checking out.

He has additionally published a slew of short stories, many of which function as entries into the Jumper or 7th Sigma universes.

While I enjoy Gould's books, he has a distinctive voice, writing style, and way of creating stories (find cool concept, have hero explore it). If you've read one of his books and didn't like it, you can probably skip reading his other books. The odd one out is Greenwar, which does not fit his usual style.
