A percussion and dance ensemble, Stomp is sort of unexplainable. They use "everyday" items (trash cans, zippo lighters, basketballs, 55 gallon drums, and a lot of other stuff) as percussion instruments. So, 12 really talented drummers get up there, and bang on the stuff.

The result has to be heard to be believed. They did a special on HBO, which will give you an idea of how the whole thing works, but really, you have to see them live. Stomp tours worldwide frequently, so there's a good chance you can see them eventually. Go. It's a lot of fun.

I've heard that the actual people that make up Stomp are fairly assholish, which doesn't surprise me; it's sort of overrated elite kind of pop sensation. But they get standing ovations continuously because their shows are so much fun. For this reason, it's worth making a performance if you can go.
