Ever since I wrote my Triple Burner write-up, I have wanted to point out, that in, all fairness, giving organs of the body unusual names is not confined to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Western Medicine is just as guilty, as evidenced by this list of brain structures, and the english translations. I picked the brain because it is the organ I know the most about, and the thought of having a seahorse responsible for our deepest thoughts is certainly amusing.
I have taken liberties with some of these, for example, cingulate could also be translated as "encircling", but I think girdle is more funny.
