Syldavian is a Germanic language invented by Hergé, author of the Tintin series of comic books. Most samples of Syldavian are found in Le Sceptre d'Ottokar, Objectif Lune and L'Affaire Tournesol. Some of the language was based on Marols, the dialect of Dutch spoken by Hergé's grandmother. Syldavian has two types of verbs, strong and weak, like English. It has four noun cases and adjectives in AN structure. The definite article, dze, is declined, but the indefinite article, on, is not. The word order is SVO.
