Most typically a vertex, where two roads meet at right angles. Comes from the Latin character 'T', of which it resembles. T-junctions are probably the single most common method of joining roads in the world.
Can also be applied to other joinings, such as pipe-work.
Not to be confused with: a cul-de-sac.
