One of the first websites to offer streaming MP3s. served the world with its mammoth collection of MP3s, ranging from The KLF to Garth Brooks.

Operating from the first floor Les Appelt Hall at Texas A&M University, Tek served as a communal programmable jukebox from 1996 until finally crumbling due to pressure from ASCAP in early 1997. (Tek was undoubtedly one of, if not the first case of ASCAP intervention, garnering an article in Wired*.)
