Texaco is the common name of the Texas Company that was founded in 1902 by Joseph Cullinan and Arnold Schaler. It was a rapidly growing company that by 1928 was the only U.S. oil company to have stations in all 48 states. During the Great Depression it adopted the name Texaco and its red star logo. It was also the first to have a standard architecture for all of its stations.
