"Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and
indivisible."
The pledge should be recited after the pledge of allegiance
to the United States flag if both are recited. During recitation, you should
assume the same position of respect, i.e. stand at attention with the right
hand over the heart, or perform a military salute. The pledge may only be recited
at a meeting during which the pledge of allegiance to the United States flag
is recited, or at any state historical event or celebration.

Amusing side note: The pledge was created in
1933, when the state legislature passed a law establishing how to properly
display and respect the Lone Star Flag. Interestingly, the original pledge read "
Honor the Texas Flag of 1836..." (otherwise known as David G. Burnet's flag), not
the Lone Star Flag. In 1951, a bill was introduced to correct the mistake, but it
wasn't until 1965 that the words "of 1836" were removed.
