Four books, compiled by Robert Byrne, which contain quotations from famous people throughout history.

Book 1 - The 637 Best Things Anybody Ever Said
Book 2 - The Other 637 Best Things Anybody Ever Said
Book 3 - The Third - And Possibly the Best - 637 Best Things Anybody Ever Said
Book 4 - The Fourth - And By Far the Most Recent - 637 Best Things Anybody Ever Said.

Recently, a fifth book has been added, The 2,548 Best Things Anybody Ever Said which doesn't contain anything new, but includes all of the first four books together.

Some of my favorite entries:

"I don't know anything about music. In my line, you don't have to." --Elvis Presley, 1935-1977
"We are what we pretend to be." --Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
"Love your enemies in case your friends turn out to be a bunch of bastards." --R.A. Dickson
"Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement." --Barry LePanter
"Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint." --Mark Twain, 1835-1910
"If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?" --Abraham Lincoln, 1809-1865
"If I were wrong, it would only have taken one." --Albert Einstein, commenting on the book 100 Authors Against Einstein

My dad, who owns the first book in the series, points out that the compiler, Robert Byrne, quotes himself once or twice in it. (This seems rather egotistical. "Yeah, this remark of mine is one of the 637 best things anyone ever said!")
