The first animated series based on the popular video game character Sonic the Hedgehog. It was produced by DIC Entertainment and starred Jaleel White (Steve Urkel from Family Matters) as the titular blue speedster and former musician Long John Baldry as Dr. Robotnik, his arch nemesis. It ran for 65 episodes in syndication in 1993 and was followed by a Christmas special in 1996

The series revolved around Sonic and his sidekick, Tails, stopping the evil Robotnik and his hench-robots, Scratch (who was tall and looked like a chicken), Grounder (who was short had drills for a nose and hands), and (sometimes) Coconuts (who looked like a monkey) from taking over their planet, Mobius.

Every episode ended with a short segment called Sonic Says, which was similar to GI Joe's Knowing Is Half The Battle.

The series was very light and comical and heavy on surrealism and slapstick in contrast to the other animated Sonic series airing at the time, the American Broadcasting Company's "Sonic the Hedgehog" (called Sonic SatAM by fans to distinguish it from this one).
