The Art of Writing Translations by Florian Von Banier

Third Chapter: On the Subject of God, That She is Not, and therefore that there can be no translation of holy words

*1 God is only to be understood by what God does not happen to be. God is not to be understood by what God speaks, by what God writes (which is also what I have written), but by what God does not speak or does not write. That is, God is not a presence, but an absence.

*2 God is a deferral, a repetition of deferrals, the cessation of time, asynchronicity.

*3 And so therefore, God's words can only be understood by a kind of going around them, by not reading them, but yet by a reading that is performed as if by blind eyes, by eyes that cannot read, but can also comprehend everything. Imagine this: a reading of a passage in a script that you cannot decipher, that you nonetheless memorize the form of, as if through clairavoyance, and can then reproduce later exactly, yet not memorizing. This is like those that, in their sleep, are capable of perfect speech in a language that they cannot render when awake.

*4 All writing aproximates God.

*5 Therefore, translation, as a form of writing, also approximates the grace of God, which is neither good nor bad, but is not, since God is not.

*6 God does not. She is not. She notspeaks, notcreates, notloves. If God were to call your name it would only be by a cancelling of all the sounds that form what your name is not. This would take forever, but since God does not exist, it cannot take time at all. For God there is no time, but there also is not a lack of time. There merely is not anything, which is also not nothing. God is hollow, but also is not the space that forms a hollow, but only the absence of hollowness implied in a hollowness that is genuine and formless at the center of the eye of a camel.

*7 God does not speak. God cannot speak. Yet all speech is God, because it is only God that does not not allow things to exist, which is to say that God does not allow them to exist, which is to say that God does not exist, but nonethless does not let things not exist by not forcing them to not shine forth in radiant and blissful acceptance of their not existing as what they aren't.
If God were to speak, speech would be impossible. God's speech is not like the air which I force through my own throat and out of my own body in order to form the names that I would like to name. God's speech is not like the ringing of the bells at midnight. God's speech is not a vibration at all, but also is not a cessation of vibrations, but also is not the lack of a vibration, which is stillness, and silence. It is the silent ringing of the ear that is produced by no other alteration. If the universe froze, and everything stopped, and blackness encompassed you, and your ear rang: that is what God's breath is not.

*8 I have written all that I can write of God. Will you read the spaces between the letters I have written? There is where God precisely is not. Only then will you not find God, which is the only way to find God. Here is God: DVDRAM. The letters that are not there are the letters that form the negative space into which God's name cannot be written. I have written all that I can write of God, and so now I will turn to the next chapter, in which I will write to you about God's written word, which is the words that God did not write, and could never write, because God does not write, but only forms words through the absence of hairs placed on the backs of the legs of fantastic animals in remote jungles under the heavenly stars between the breaths of murmuring leviathans deep in the recesses of the oceans that stain the back of a griffon in the lack of a land where space is not absent but only written between the pages of a dictionary printed tomorrow between five and fifteen thousand four hundred six twelve nine five ten eighteen four million four hundred thousand forty four and fivety six and millionty hudnred billion six over infinity divided by the golden golden golden golden number of the egg of the mother who gave birth to all of us, which is the same of space of word of writing of falsity of truth of wishing of a hand slowly moving over your name where you did not write yet you wanted to write and there is only endless ends...
