Many loan words from English are used in Japanese. As with other ideas, things, and actions borrowed by the Japanese from other cultures these words become transformed. They are familiar, yet strange. For example the American hot dog appears in Japan in a steamed white flour bun, with mustard, but with a tempura batter.
