John Keegan that tells of
military history from the
battlefield.
He takes an original approach of not using the
rhetoric that is commonly used in other military history books. He does this by describing presenting the reader with what could have been going on in the minds of those on the
battlefield.
He manages to get the reader to feel what it was like to be in the 'face of battle.' He doesn't just do this once, but three different times whether at
Agincourt in
1415,
Waterloo in
1815, or the
Somme in
1916.
More than just statistics and recounts of battle, the book gets into your mind.
