There are about fifteen minutes before the school bus comes, and we're sitting together, me writing at the computer, her drawing.

Athena : Does America have a queen?
Me : You know it doesn't.
Athena : Well I've drawn one.
Me : Ok. What's her name?
Athena (with an exaggerated Spanish accent) : Maria.
Me : Is she Spanish then?
Athena : No, wait; her name is Marissa Degall.
Me (looking at drawing) : One of her arms is very short...
Athena : I know. It doesn't matter.
Me : You don't think she'd mind if she saw this?
Athena (very earnestly) : No. She would understand that I had made her up.
