Children's book written and designed by El Lissitzky in which the main characters are a red square and a black square. Besides this two symbols, a red circle, representing Earth and a chaos represented by several other geometric shapes are present.
The book was originally printed using block typography, both for text and illustrations. The first edition is from 1920 and was produced at the soviet art institute UNOVIS in Vitebsk.
In 1922 it was reissued by Sythian Press, Berlin. Recently it was reissued in the US by the MIT Press.
