The
Autobots are trying to decide on a new leader to replace the deceased
Optimus Prime. The
Dinobot leader
Grimlock offers himself for the position, but is turned down.
A
professor of
paleontology leads a group of students to investigate footprints left by the Dinobots. They encounter
Trypticon, a powerful
Decepticon sent from
Cybertron to attack the Autobots. After watching the resulting
slaughter from afar for a while, the Dinobots launch a counter attack.
"Fools! Optimus Prime's way led to his destruction! He worried about protecting weakling humans! He avoided fighting the Decepticons openly, to prevent damaging this miserable planet! Optimus Prime's way stinks! My way will be better!" - Grimlock
