5 minutes: Family relationships are complex

"So you've been able to simplify it then?"

"There are certain roles we tend to play in any relationship. You already know about the victim, persecutor, and rescuer triangle right?"

"Just barely."

"Almost every story we grow up with has those three archetypes in them, so it becomes very easy for us to take on one of those roles. In any given situation, we almost instinctively take one of these three roles because we've seen them thousands of times. We know exactly how each of the roles should behave, and we almost can't help but act them out."
