The haunting half remembered familiarity
from too long ago to feel comfortable with
running into each others arms again but
not so long ago to erase the desire to.
So we walk up to one another,
almost tentative, almost scared
the time apart has been too long.
Until someone moves forward and
wraps the other person in their arms
and the connection is renewed.
Because while the mind may forget
the heart always remembers.
And will remind us when
it is time to part again.
