"You," Lord Raye said, "is it you?"

"I am," she said, "while I am here."

"You're leaving?" he asked. "Before it's finished?"

"I am," she said. "Then it will not be me."

"If you're not going to finish it," he asked, "who will?"

"You," she said, "if you want to."

"I can't," he said. "I don't have your ability."

"You do," she said, "you just don't know it yet."

"We don't have time," he said. "Why do you make us wait?"

"You don't have to wait," she said. "You can have it now."

"How?" he asked. "How can we do what you do if you don't teach us?"

"You just have to believe in yourself," she said, "as much as you believe in me."

And then night came, and he saw her no more.
