Term sometimes used to refer to the
Great Lakes area of the northern
United States. This is the so-called "third coast", after the
West and
East coasts.
Michigan and Wisconsin take up the majority of the Great Lakes' US shoreline, but Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, as well as the Canadian province of Ontario all border the Great Lakes.
