Thomas Wilson Ferebee (1919-2000), the lead bombardier aboard the B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay", was the man who pulled the lever that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.

He believed he was part of a normal mission when he delivered the world's first nuclear weapon to the Japanese city. The "tremendous blinding light" proved otherwise.

Ferebee was a strong proponent of the United States' decision to drop the bomb on Hiroshima until the day he died, March 16, 2000 at the age of 81.
