The Tidal Basin is an inlet inside the banks of the Potomac River, and it is located in Washington DC. Water comes into the tidal basin from the Potomac River, and it all comes out into the Washington Channel under the Francis Case Memorial Bridge.

There are 3,700 Japanese cherry trees that line the Tidal basin, and sometime between March and April in the spring they blossom and people come from all around to see the beautiful and world-renowned white-pink tree blossoms every year. So many people come to see these blossoms that the National Park Service doesn't even bother to count them. This event is called the "Cherry Blossom Festival" and lasts about 2 weeks.

On the Southeast end of the Tidal Basin is the Jefferson Memorial, on the Southwest side is the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. To the north is the Kutz Bridge, allowing Independence Avenue to pass over it. To the Northeast side of the basin is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
