Founded in 1983 and currently based in Ontario, Canada, they became very popular due to their extremely durable clothing, much of it guaranteed for life. The really rose a popular clothing company when their Tilley Hat and shorts were worn by Canada's America Cup team. Additionally, their hats are worn by both the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and by the Canadian State Troopers.
They are probably the only clothing company I've found to have a great sense of humour. I mean, seriously, what kind of people would supply a hat with a four page manual?
