Born in Malibu, California on August 16, 1960. Raised in an acting family and first appeared on screen at the age of five, in the movie Never Too Late, with his father, actor Jim Hutton. At fifteen he played Dionysus in a high school play and it was obvious that acting had become serious business. Again, he appeared with his father in a Santa Cruz stage production of Harvey, when he played the role of a cab driver. He left high school at sixteen, and focused all his attention on becoming an actor.

It didn't take long. He gave an acclaimed performance as the son of Ned Beatty and Carol Burnett in the award-winning TV movie Friendly Fire. Shortly afterward, much attention was lavished on his performance in Robert Redford's directorial debut, Ordinary People. Hutton portrayed a youth recovering from a failed suicide attempt and his performance garnered him an Academy Award Oscar as the Best Supporting Actor.

Hutton has a son, Noah, from his marriage with ex-wife, Debra Winger. And, IMHO, his work with Sean Penn in The Falcon and The Snowman was riveting and a film not to be missed.
