Torticollis (torti = twisted and collis = neck) is also known as stiff neck or wry neck or ... in normal terms, a condition where there is restriction of head rotation and tilting.

In children, congenital torticollis is usually caused by a tumour in the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Treatment is via gentle stretching and physiotherapy.

Idiopathic spasmodic torticollis may occur in children or adults and should not be confused with congenital torticollis
