In some schools, the board of education has adopted a "transitional" grade between Kindergarten and first grade.
Typically used as a buffer zone for children who have the majority of the skills to graduate Kindergarten, but are not quite ready for first grade.
At the end of the school year, the children in this program will take a test to determine movement into First Grade, Second Grade or Kindergarten.
