Transmat is a record label, in Detroit, owned by certain Derrick May. Started in mid 1980's, this label is responsible for techno music, as it is known today, alongside Juan Atkin's Metroplex -label. Since it's beginning, Transmat has released very influential music, most notably by very famous artists such as Derrick May (in his Rhythim is Rhythim disguise), Suburban Knight, Carl Craig (as Psyche), Dark Comedy(aka Kenny Larkin), Model 500 (aka Juan Atkins), Octave One as well as Joey Beltram among others. Transmat has also one sublabel, Fragile. Having been defunct for most of the 1990's, Transmat re-launched recently with releases from Derrick himself, as well as Aril Brikha, followed by others.
