Agreement between the Allied powers of World War I and the defeated Turkish Ottoman Empire. It was conducted under auspices of the League of Nations and was signed on August 10, 1920.

The treaty forced Turkey to give up lands in Arab Asia, North Africa, allowed Cyprus to be annexed by the British, created an independent Armenia, and promised the Kurds autonomy -- but was never implemented. It was replaced by the Treaty of Lausanne which dropped all mention of the Kurds. Mustafa Kemal, the Attaturk, subsequently turned on the Kurds and there has been great civil unrest between Turkey and their Kurdish minority to this day.
