This is one of sixteen Security Council resolutions that Iraq is accused of violating. Under Resolution 1158, the Security Council:

  • Upheld the provisions of Resolution 1143 and Resolution 1153.
  • Ruled that Iraq may not conduct no more than 1.4 billion USD in financial transaction with member States. This figure includes exporting of oil and petrolium based products. The number stated should not be exceeded before 90 days of March 5, 1998 at 12:01am EST.
