Short-lived
comic strip by
Jim Davis (creator of
Garfield). Had considerably more popularity as a series of
animated segments on the hit
Saturday morning cartoon Garfield and Friends.
U.S. Acres took place on a pretty generic farm and chronicled the misadventures of various animals on the farm. Orson Pig, the leader, was fond of storytelling and reading, but often let his imagination run wild. Roy Rooster was cynical and scheming. Wade Duck was afraid of his own shadow and wore a pool-type inner tube constantly. Sheldon was a chick that refused to hatch and walked around with just his legs sticking out from his shell; Booker was his brother who did not have the same problem. I guess Sheldon was just chicken. Also appearing were Bo and Lanolin, a pair of sheep siblings.
