In German this literally means the non-man and the in-human and degrading (the last two are the adjective unmenschlich) and inhumanity and brutality (This is the Object Unmenschlichkeit). The word is generally applied to people who are extremely cruel and/or evil (i.e. Hitler is a Unmensch). You will read this word a lot in translations of Nietzsche and Karl Marx.
