Once upon a time, there was a brand of
beer called
Utica Club. It was
brewed by the
West End Brewing Company in
Utica, NY. That company is now called the
Matt Brewing Company, and they no longer make
Utica Club, but rather the
Saranac Family of Beers.
Utica Club is perhaps most notable for its advertising campaign. Their television commericals featured a pair (and eventually a whole gaggle) of talking beer steins. The main duo was named Schultz and Dooley (cf.).
If you visit Utica, you can take a tour of the brewery and buy all sorts of merchandise. Replicas of Schultz, Dooley and the other steins are also available through a catalog. So while you can no longer have a big stein of Utica Club, the nostalgia factor is alive and well.
