an addendum to
The New York City Subway Lines Project

V Train (6th Avenue Local)

The V was introduced in December 2001 (or so) when the connection between the Queens Boulevard subway and the 63rd Street Tunnel was opened. It's basically a shorter and less impressive version of the F Train, meant to replace the F in the 53rd Street tube and the G in Queens. Despite the MTA's efforts, the V has not proven to be a very popular service, and mostly functions as a feeder to the express along Queens Boulevard.

The V only operates on weekdays. During late nights and weekends, it is replaced by the G.
