In Norse Mythology, the falcon sitting on top of (or between the eyes of) the Eagle (which is always unnamed, as far as I know) in the top branches of Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life. The squirrel Ratatosk delivers news and/or insults between this pair and Nidhogg, the serpent at the roots of Yggdrasil.
