A soft drink invented by John Noel Nichols at the beginning of the 20th century. Vimto had its beginnings as a healthy pick-me-up tonic, made from blackcurrant, raspberry, grape juices, herbs and spices, full of "vim and vitality". Made to a secret recipe, Vimto was first sold in herbalist shops and temperance bars in Manchester.
Curiously, it is an anagram of vomit.
