Most people use the term "we" when referring to a collective group of people that includes themselves. My roommate has shown me that the word is much more versatile, and can also be used for a singular entity. She'll often utter "We need more applesauce and string cheese." I know perfectly well she's talking about herself only. There are other times, times she should be talking about just herself and she is kind enough to include me in her "we". Common examples are:

"We should wash my nasty stinky dirty sequin phatty pants."

"We should clean the bedroom."

"We should clean my car."

As much as I would like to believe that she's using her wonderfully creative singular "we", I know she's not. She always wants to involve me in her dirty work
